The Walton Education Foundation proudly presents our primary, annual fundraiser, the 4th Annual Apple Classic 5K/10K Run. The race will take place at 9am on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at the beautiful Hammock Bay Town Center in Freeport. Registration will be available before the race online and at the race beginning at 7am. All proceeds benefit The Walton Education Foundation.
The Walton Education Foundation is a not-for-profit organization established in 1995 by a rising need for support specific to teachers in Walton County. The Foundation has grown to not only help all teachers in Walton County, but to expand its impact and support teachers, their students and schools. The Foundation provides annual giving and volunteer opportunities that directly serve our students, teachers and schools through a series of educational programs and grants including:
- Kidz Closet – A program which provides assistance for students to obtain proper school clothing through physical and monetary donations.
- Classroom mini-grants – An annual program which is available to teachers in Walton County where additional, special project funds are provided through an application process. Special programs focus on important educational initiatives such as STEM, literacy, increasing high school graduation rates, career/technical education, low-performing students and teaching quality.
- Take Stock in Children – A not-for-profit, Florida-based program offering at risk children or children from low-income homes college scholarships, caring, volunteer mentors and an overall hope for a better life
- School District Special Events- Teacher of the Year, Elevating and Celebrating Effective Teaching and Teachers (ECET²) Convening, School Year Kick Off Event
