Walton County’s Change for Children Campaign is about to begin! Walton Education Foundation has taken over for the Walton Retired Teachers Association this year. WEF, with the help of the Walton County School district, principals, administration and faculty at every school in the county hope to raise funds to help Children in Crisis. You will find a change receptacle at participating schools around the county!
ABOUT CHILDREN IN CRISIS
In 2003, Children in Crisis, Inc., a non-profit 501 (c)(3) charity, was established to raise and manage the funds to build, staff, and operate The Children’s Neighborhood, a residential style foster care neighborhood. From a small grass-roots group of individuals the organization has grown to over 200 members, including CPAs, architects, attorneys, educators, builders, employees of DCF, and volunteers from the Guardian Ad Litem program.
In 2007, Susanna Wesley Emergency Shelter and Blessings House Family Foster Home opened their doors and their hearts to their first set of children in February 2008.
Since then, CIC have served an average of over 100 children per year. CIC also have built Aunt Bill’s Playground, the Charles D. Rigdon Pavilion, the Dugas Family Foundation Neighborhood Center and The Kid’s Clubhouse Recreation Center.
WALTON EDUCATION FOUNDATION’S ROLE:
Walton Education Foundation promotes, distributes and retrieves the Change for Children supplies and informative materials. WEF Board members volunteer throughout the different schools in the county to make this campaign a success. The Walton County School District supports WEF by promoting the campaign within the district.
