No Ordinary Joe Scholarship

Each year #waltonedfoundation, with the Consortium of Florida Education Foundations and their School District Education Foundation Matching Grant Program, partner with local community support from CHELCO, The Alys Foundation, The St. Joe Community Foundation, Inc., Florida Power & Light and 30A 10K to fund our Classroom Grant Program where immediate teacher needs in Walton County classrooms are impacted.  In 2021, our program awarded 57 Classroom Grants impacting 9,300 Walton County students and nearly 200 teachers through creative and purposeful grant requests. Walton Education Foundation is the Lead Agency for Take Stock in Children, Walton County (TSIC Walton). Each year Walton Education Foundation pledges funds to purchase 2-year Florida College Scholarships for deserving Walton County School District students. The program is matched by Florida Prepaid allowing our agency to optimize the number of scholarships available to our community. Through this program students are prepared for college success as they graduate high school and prepare to enter college.

TSIC Walton has opened its 2022 Scholarship and Mentoring Program Application Window for students in 8th and 9th grades. Students and their parents must apply by September 16th.

Students and guardians can expect to report the following information when completing the TSIC application and must follow the guidelines and criteria below:

  • Attend a Walton County middle or high school
  • Be a student in the 7th, 8th, 9th grades
  • Have a minimum 2.0 GPA
  • Be a U.S. Citizen
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • SHOW DETERMINATION TO SUCCEED!

Walton Education Foundation is proud to be a beneficiary of the 30a10k for the second year! As beneficiary, WEF supports the race through volunteer recruitment. In 2021, the 30a10k contributed $20,000 to Walton Education Foundation to impact our Classroom Grants Program.

Walton Education Foundation Names New Director

Walton County, Fla. – October 6 – Walton Education Foundation, an area not-for-profit providing educational support to schools, teachers and the community of Walton County, Florida, announced today it has selected Lindsey Ryan Harp as the organization’s Executive Director.

Ms. Harp brings 15 years of experience and proven results in executing communications, marketing and fundraising project goals all within diverse organizations. As executive director, Ms. Harp will oversee all activities that serve the educational community by mobilizing support and resources through alliances, grants and fundraising events.

 “It is a pleasure to represent the Walton Education Foundation after having experienced the impact of its classroom grants awarded in Walton County schools while in my previous role,” Harp says.  “The Walton Education Foundation classroom grants offer a critical element benefitting teachers by creating an environment that teaches and grows students at every level of learning.”

The Walton Education Foundation impacts over 10,000 students and over 700 teachers through its classroom grants and serves as the lead agency for the Take Stock in Children program. 

“Ms. Harp is energetic with a passion for education and a background in communication and fundraising that aligns with our goals,” said Juliet Milam, Walton Education Foundation Board President. “The Board is excited to welcome Lindsey and is confident the Foundation will be well positioned for success under her guidance.”

During the 2020-2021 school year the Foundation awarded 53 grants to Walton County teachers totaling $51,000.

Concluding the year, Walton Education Foundation will complete its 2021-2022 classroom grant application process in mid-October.  It will also participate in Walton County School District’s ECET2 summit held on November 6th. In the same month, it is proud to have been named as a charity partner beneficiary of the 30a 10k held on Thanksgiving Day 2021 in Rosemary Beach.
